Important factors in the desktop PC market in the third quarter of 2008 were the fact that consumer demand was below expectations and the continued steady growth in the enterprise market segment. Shipment volume of the Taiwanese desktop PC industry in the third quarter of 2008 is estimated at 12.11 million units, up 1.3% year-on-year. Shipment value of the industry increased 4.3% to approximately US$3.56 billion in the third quarter, as ASP (Average Selling Price) remained unchanged compared to the previous quarter and as shipment volume increased slightly year-on-year.
